Neck pain is a very common complaint, and something that the vast majority of people will experience at least once. Anyone who has experienced it already will know that the amount of pain at any given moment can vary greatly- one minute it might be very mild, whereas the next it might be excruciating.

The biological cause of neck pain is in most cases due to muscular spasms, ligament sprains, and injuries to the discs which make up the neck itself.

WHY DO PEOPLE EXPERIENCE NECK PAIN?

The neck is a delicate area, and as a result there are a variety of reasons why one may experience neck pain. Many of these are simple problems, but still result in serious neck pain. These can include:

Improper sleeping position
Stress
An injury or trauma to the neck or surrounding area
Driving for long periods without resting
Carrying out exercises with improper posture and technique

DIAGNOSING NECK PAIN

Our whole team are highly experienced in diagnosing and treating neck pain, so whoever you come to see, they will be able to quickly tell you just what the root cause of your problem is. Neck pain is a delicate matter, and as a result the cause of it can shift between appointments. However, we will be able to track this as and when it happens, to ensure that your treatment is always targeting your pain in the most effective and appropriate manner.

During your first appointment, a member of our team will ask a series of questions, as well as carry out an examination, to discover the cause of your neck pain. This examination will involve determining what movements you find particularly uncomfortable, and which you can carry out with ease, which will allow them to determine the best way to proceed with treatment. If we feel that you need specialist medical treatment (although this is rare), we will be happy to forward your case to your GP, in order to get things sorted out as quickly and effectively as possible.

HOW DO WE TREAT NECK PAIN?

How we treat your neck pain will differ depending on the underlying cause. For some people, resting and applying heat or cold pads may be enough to settle the problem, whereas more intensive treatments such as anesthetic creams and physical therapy such as massage may be more appropriate for other, more serious situations. We focus more on the physical side of things to help people suffering from neck pain, and the most common treatments we offer include:

Acupuncture
Massage
Soft Tissue Manipulation
Muscle Energy Techniques

Not only do we carry out the treatment ourselves onsite, but we will also instruct you in exercises that you can do at home to help alleviate your symptoms. This will help you recover and get back to your normal self in no time at all.
